How it all startedβ¦
Jen and Emma met for the first time back in 2017 at a birth trauma retreat at Jenβs lovely home nestled away in the trees. It was clear from that first interaction that they shared a common interest in learning more about birth trauma experiences and were on a similar path to hold space for others who had had similar threads woven into their journeys. Hoping to find an impactful and consistent way to help others while holding the unique set of emotions and challenges that come with birth trauma journeys, they created Birth Trauma Ottawa in the fall of 2022. In December 2023, Birth Trauma Ottawa changed their name to Birth Trauma Connections Canada (BTCC) which continues to offer support to those struggling to navigate life related to birth trauma, loss and/or abortion experiences at any point in an individual's journey. BTCC creates regular connection points for community support, provides education opportunities and holds social events to increase community connection. Here, members and allied community members can share their stories and challenges openly, without judgement and be met with compassion, understanding and kindness.
